JUMP TO RECIPE

When you’re in the mood for tacos, there is no better option, to me, than making your own taco seasoning. Yes, the seasoning from the packet can be good in a rush, but Our Favorite Taco Seasoning can be just as quick if you have everything on hand. Plus, you get to control the amount of salt in your tacos which is impossible with the stuff from the packet.

Our taco seasoning utilizes spices you probably already have on hand, plus a little something extra with the addition of smoked paprika. And, in all honesty, if you don’t have any smoked paprika and you don’t want to invest in it right now, just double the amount of sweet paprika! It’s just as good.

Our Favorite Taco Seasoning Recipe

Servings: 8 (Makes approx. 3/4 cup)
Total Time: 5 minutes

4 tablespoons chili powder
2 tablespoons ground cumin
1 tablespoon Kosher salt
2 teaspoons black pepper
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon sweet paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Mix all of the ingredients in a bowl.

Transfer the mixture to a clean, dry jar. Store for up to 1 year; use it to season chicken, beef, pork, or anything else that you want to have a taco flavor.
